Our studio was founded in 2012, and branched out from a local digital agency called Hyper. The two co-founders of Hyper Games Terje Gran and Are Sundnes worked in Hyper as Flash developers, making many game projects for advertisement as well as serious games for educational purposes.
The first official game release after establishing Hyper Games was Hocus Pocus Alfie Atkins, based on the beloved Swedish children's book character Alfons Åberg. The game is still among the most popular app games for young kinds in Scandinavia, and have had around a million kids playing it since release.
After the success of Hocus Pocus, the team kept working on both work for hire projects, as well as developing their own titles. In 2016 they released the hilarious mobile game Eggggg which was featured by Apple as App of the Week and received a lot of attention worldwide.
Mørkredd was our passion project for many years, and finally saw it’s release in December 2020. The team finished the game during covid lockdown, not seeing each other for the last 6 months of development. Mørkredd ended up as our most award winning game so far, and even got inducted to Norway’s national museum of arts.
The early development of Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley started in January 2020 after securing a licensing deal with Moomin Characters. The game was finally released March 7 2024, and praised by critics and players alike. This was the first game in decades to bring the beloved Moomin franchise to the big screens.
